Our youth plays a significant leadership role in the Diocese of Dallas.

We serve as staff at Happening and New Beginnings retreats, as counselors and support at summer youth camp Camp All Saints, we serve as Pages at the diocesan convention, and we sit in leadership roles on the Diocesan Youth Commission.

Our senior high youth just returned from Happening #158 at Camp All Saints, where Malory Keylon and Rachel McNulley served on staff, and Ftr. Jim served as one of the two Spiritual Directors.

What is Happening?

Happening – A Christian Experience is a weekend retreat for Senior High students in grades 9, 10. 11 or 12. Its purpose is to be one of the instruments within the Anglican Tradition to renew the Christian Church in the power of the Holy Spirit, in order that the Church may respond more readily to its call to spread the Kingdom of God throughout the world. It seeks to achieve this purpose by bringing young persons and adults to a more fulfilling personal knowledge of and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and to a deeper level of commitment and apostleship. Through various activities such as talks, large and small groups, music, and worship, the Happening experience readies teenage Christian leaders to share with their peers a living experience of what is fundamental to being a Christian.

Happening is a Christian experience presented by teenagers for teenagers with the help of clergy and lay adult leadership. Every diocesan Happening program operates under the authority of its diocesan bishop or Ecclesiastical Authority. The retreat is sponsored by the Diocese of Dallas Youth Commission and led by a team of youth and adults from around the diocese.

What is New Beginnings?

New Beginnings is a weekend retreat for Junior High students specially designed to help participants grow in their love of themselves, others and our Lord Jesus Christ by focusing on the two great commandments: loving God with all of our heart, mind, and strength, and loving our neighbors as ourselves. The event is a unique experience designed specifically to respond to the needs and concerns of Junior High students. The retreat is sponsored by the Diocese of Dallas Youth Commission and led by a team of youth and adults from around the diocese
